Indian life in Thailand: food, festivals and entertainment

Thailand is home to 400,000 overseas Indians. Here is where to find Indian food, festivals and entertainment there. For the Indian embassy and NRI services, see NRI services in Thailand.

Where to find Indian food and shops

Bangkok's Little India is Phahurat, around Phahurat Road next to Chinatown: textile shops, the India Emporium with its food court, and the Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, the largest Sikh temple in Thailand. The Sukhumvit area has many Indian restaurants, as do Pattaya and Phuket. See the Tourism Authority of Thailand.

Festivals and culture

The Sri Maha Mariamman Temple on Silom Road holds a street procession at Navaratri, and Diwali is celebrated in Phahurat and by Indian associations. India's cultural centre in Bangkok, the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, holds classes and performances.
