Located in the north west of India, Punjab is one of the most prosperous states of India. It is bordered by Pakistan on the west, the Indian states of Jammu and Kashmir on the north, Himachal Pradesh on its northeast and Haryana and Rajasthan to its south. It is primarily an agricultural state and enjoys the natural benefits of fertile soil and abundant water. It spans an area of about 50,362 km˛ and the population of the state is over 24,289,296. The state capital is Chandigarh.  Bounded with the treasures of Golden Temple at Amritsar, the sword of Hazrat Ali at Anandpur Sahib, the world's highest straight gravity dam at Bhakra, India’s Steel City – Gobindgarh, and the world‘s biggest grain market at Khanna, Punjab is also a land hallowed by saints. Punjabis are the guardians of Indian security and lead the path to the proud Indian way of life.
