Before the Indian independence, Beed was a located in the present state of Hyderabad. In the year 1960, it was included in Maharashtra. Godavari is the most important rivers that flow through the region.
Beed is a hilly area as the Balaghat ranges spans through it from west to east. The district is known for its natural beauty and picturesque landscapes. This makes it a fantastic tourist destination. It is well connected with the rest of the state of Maharashtra. The distance of Beed from the capital city of Mumbai is around 450 km. You can also take the rail route to Beed from the any part of India.
Beed covers an area of 10,692 sq km, and the major languages spoken are Marathi, Hindi and Urdu. Some of major agricultural produce of this area cotton, groundnut, jowar, bajra, and sugarcane.

The Naigaon Peacock Sanctuary is a must see for the tourists. The reserve forest is well supplied with several streams which brings in life giving water. Apart from the national bird which is the star attraction, several native animals roam this reserve forest. These include fox, deer, jackal, hyena, hare, and wild cats. The nature reserve is well connected by roadways.
