Aurangabad is one of the most important tourist
destinations of Maharashtra as well as India. This city was named
after the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb and was founded by Malik Ambar in
1610 A.D. It has a lot to offer the tourists coming from all over
the world for its natural and historical spots. The caves of Ajanta
and Ellora are here. There are other tourist attractions as well. As
a result, the transportation is very convenient in Aurangabad.

Bibi ka Maqbara- Situated
at 3 kms from the main town, here sleeps Mughal Empress
Rabia-ud-Durrani, the wife of Aurangzeb. There are ponds, Mughal
garden, fountain and museum in the complex of this tomb.

Ajanta Caves- Listed
under World Heritage Sites, Ajanta caves are about 100 kms from
Aurangabad. Needless to mention, these are 30 rock cut caves
lying in the serenity of Sahayadri hills. These caves testify
the time. They have sculptures and paintings of Buddha period.

Ellora Caves- Ellora
caves are also listed under World Heritage Sites. These caves
are 30 kms away from the city of Aurangabad. There are 34 rock
cut caves of Buddhist, Jain and Hindu faith. These are
monolithic structures from which courtyard, pavilion, gateway
etc have been carved out. Recently, 22 more caves have been
discovered.

Daulatabad Fort- The
claim to fame of this invincible 12th century fort is that it
was the capital of Tughlaq. It is 13 kms away from Aurangabad
located at a hill top.

Panchakki- This is a 300
years old water mill which was built by Sufi Saint Baba Shah
Musafir. This is a quite and calm place which has frozen the
time and retained it to the medieval era.
