| Wildlife of Kerala Kerala is home to a diverse variety of wildlife. The state contains many wildlife sanctuaries and national parks devoted to protect its biodiversity. The most famous National park in Kerala is the Silent Valley National park, which comprises the virgin forests of the Western Ghats and is home to the Asian elephant, flying squirrel and the lion tailed macaque. Some of the extraordinary wild animals that tourists can see on tours of Kerala, are elephants, the Nilgiri Tahr, tigers, leopards, lion-tailed macaque, deer, monkeys, civet cats, squirrels which include the charming Malabar giant squirrel.
